Job Goal

 

The Gifted and talented teacher at AAA will be instrumental in provideing specialized instruction and support for students identified as gifted and talented ensuring they receive a challenging and enriching educational experience. This position provides services to students, teachers, administrators, and parents in order to meet identified students’ needs.  The position requires the identification and programming of high ability students in the five areas of intellectual, specific academic, creativity, the arts, and leadership.  

 

Position Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree; Master Degree preferred; at experience in successful teaching in the area of Gifted and Talented
  • Valid Arkansas teaching license, with gifted and talented credentials
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, education trends, research, and technology

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Follow the district’s established processes to identify gifted and talented students at all grade levels campus-wide, including review of student data and testing of students.
  • Collaberate with teachers and campus coordinators to develop and provide gifted and talented students with alternative course work through curriculum modification, acceleration, etc.
  • Provide accelerated educational enrichment for identified gifted and talented students on the assigned campus, as required.
  • Develop and conduct or arrange for campus staff development sessions, including sessions on the delivery of instruction, enriched learning in classroom settings, and methods for identifying gifted and talented students.
  • Locate and provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals for gifted and talented students
  • Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other relevant individuals regarding gifted and talented students
  • Plan and conduct campus-wide parent meetings and advisory committees as required
  • Coordinate with the administrators regarding budgeting and expenditures for gifted and talented program 
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy
  • Work with the cycle reporting coordinator to ensure accurate cycle reporting and required program reporting for gifted and talented students and to ensure adequate tracking of gifted and talented students
  • Attend campus and statewide professional development sessions to keep updated on rules regarding gifted students
  • Other duties as assigned
